I don't disagree but he got that 'guitar technique' really sorted, starting off with just the MiniMoog but taking it beyond (especially in his work with Neal Schon where they traded licks). I liked a lot of the MV stuff - had a certain 'glossy sheen' that a lot of incidental music doesn't have and which I think was an important factor in the series' success).
