If you are using one adc, then get one with a good internal clock and use that clock. The cable that connects the big ben type product to the adc and dac introduces jitter of its own. If the card has such a bad internal clock that big ben makes an audible difference, then you should have gotten a better card in the first place--its a lot less money than big ben $1,300 USD range.

The budget sounds limited here so that its best to buy a good enough card and not fret about what may be done with myteks and benchmarks and their ilk.

As an FYI--Bob Katz' book on mastering has strongly shaped my views on this subject. It has provided me with a lot of clarity on matters digital which I thought I knew all about until I read the book.
