Now our band is smaller, I'm switching to using my active 10" Fortissimos for gigs. I
used to use passive EON 15s when we were a 12 piece, but now it's a 4-piece and we only
need one or two vocal mics for pubs and small clubs, the Fortissos are more than loud
enough. I've also got a Fortissimo sub for bigger gigs (I had 2 of these but found one
was more than enough for us + plus two took up too much room in the estate). I've been
using passive EON 10s for ages as monitors (nice sound) but am going to get a couple more
10" fortissimos for that as well to again cut down on the heavy amp racks - and again free
up more space in the car.
The treble/bass balance is heavily bass biased on
the fortissimo 10"s, so I do always back off their mid and bass EQ controls and up the
treble a touch to get a flatter sound.
