Extracting audio from a cell phone

Hi,
I'm doing a session in a few days in which I need to extract audio recorded on a cell phone. I haven't seen the phone yet, so I don't know if I can extract a digital copy, which would be ideal, but I'm faced with the possibility of mic'ing the phone somehow. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this or any advice to pass on. I was planning on using the closest to a "reference quality" SDC that I can come by, probably a C 451. Sorry if a similar question has already been posted; I looked but couldn't find it. Thanks for your help
