Re: buying the ram...I assume that you can't do that for an imac as it's effectively a sealed unit?
I looked around, and John Lewis didn't have the top-end models (either instore or online) that I needed.
Ended up buying from macuniverse/planetaudio. Their advantage is free tech support from sound engineers who know about logic.
I got the top imac (quad core 2.8ghz i7 cpu with HT, 8gb ram, 1 tb drive, 27" screen, logic studio, logic keyboard cover, wireless keyboard & mouse, applecare extended warranty) total price £2422 inc vat. Apple store were going to cost a bit more, and didn't preinstall logic for me (at least, the online config doesn't give that option). These guys price-matched on logic studio as per Dolphin's price and knocked a bit off overall as well. 3 week turnaround, which isn't a problem for me (I think that's at Apple's end, anyway).
Appreciate all the advice though. Looking forward to getting it (first ever mac, so should be an interesting experience...especially looking forward to logic, after using 5.5 for so long!)
