Kolakube - you could actually knock out an Elton John song (Candle In The Wind) with the chords E, A, B and C#m. In it's simplest form, it's as routine as they come.

There are books on pop piano but I'm guessing what you're getting at is something with the equivalent of guitar tab; unfortunately, with a piano, that is standard music notation. But some of the books do strip the music down to it's most basic form. You also ought to be able to get the basic idea of a number of songs from Chordie, the guitar tab wesbite (sorry if you already knew that!); there are Erasure and Pet Shop Boys songs on there. They're not necessarily all totally accurate but where they are they will give you enough to be getting on with. And once you sussed the chords, you can then improvise the fills based on the scales.

But again, your teacher ought to be able to get you to understand the basics, and then what you do once you've sussed the chords. If he can't, you've got the wrong teacher.

Edit; I've just re-read your last post. Grade 2, a year away? Really? I'd seriously consider if you really want to go the "grades" route. You can't be dreading learning an instrument, which you clearly are, and a year is a long, long time to be doing something and not enjoying it. It's a hobby, isn't it?
Establish exactly what you want to play for, what you want to learn, and find the appropriate teacher. They are out there.
