Just go into Argos and put yourself in the mindset of the average Torrentmaster Joe looking for some blingin' speakers with a brand name on. And buy the cheapest ones too, and an awful set with a 'sub'.

You can never have too many awful speakers to test your mixes on, it's almost more fun than using your main monitors!

I know you didn't want much more stuff on your desk, but it's definitely worth a little space. It can also give your ears a different perspective, especially when they get a bit 'mix weary'.
