Hello, I'm looking at offering cheap live recording to local open mic nights. My plan is
to record using my Zoom H2 and burn the recording to CD at the gig. I'd like to use a
netbook if possible (for portability) and was wondering if they are powerful enough for
what I have in mind? Specifically using an Acer Aspire One A110 (Intel Atom N270, 1 GB
RAM, 16 GB SSD) to mix two stereo tracks (front and back from the H2) down to stereo and
dither, and then burn to audio CD using a USB CD writer. Seems like it wouldn't be a
hugely demanding task but I've no experience of netbooks and wouldn't want to buy one and
find out it will take a month to burn a CD!
Also, does anyone have any
recommendations for software? I'm looking at Ubuntu Netbook Edition for the OS (because
I've got regular Ubuntu on a PC at home) but don't have any experience of Linux audio
editing apps.
Thanks!
