If you take the notes of the C major scale, but start on the note F
(making F the tonic), you get the F lydian scale.
This scale can also be represented as a stack of perfect fifths:
F-C-G-D-A-E-B

This generation of a cycle of perfect fifths by the Lydian scale may suggest all kinds of structural consequences, see for instance George Russell's "The Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization".

In a recent study Brett Clement suggests this fifth stack to be the determining factor at work in the diatonic music of Frank Zappa,
