Another generation cringed when they heard it used to mean "homosexual" rather than "happy".
The cure is, of course, worse than the disease. Our language includes "black looks", "white lies", "straight dealing"...and many more. Do you REALLY want to empower a Word Police? They'll delight in discovering new ones, and YOU'LL be in the firing line.
My personal cringe is "random".
