It's unlikely to be a clocking problem as that would be more likely to generate a lot of tones, not a single one.
Perhaps more likely is an alias of something ultrasonic -- that was either captured by a microphone or which got into the recording chain by RF or EM induction. My guess would be a computer monitor backlight inverter or switched mode power supply, or something similar.
