AMD for music

Does anybody here use an AMD processor in an audio pc?

I need to buy a new pc as my old intel based syterm is dying.

Im on a tight budget so can,t really afford an off the shelf music PC and AMD seem a lot better value for intel however i have read about problems with comopatability with audio software and hardware. How true is this is it still a problem. Would I get clicks and pops etc when using an AMD processor?

The processor i was thinking of getting was AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 640 with Asus M4A78LT-M LE AMD 760G (Socket AM3) DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard
