the system message that comes up: "disk is too slow or system overload" is constantly coming up on my system even when i have few audio tracks.
im running snow leopard and logic pro 9 on a 2007 macbook pro, 2.2 ghz intel core 2 duo with 4 gb of RAM (recently upped this to see if the problem got solved... it hasn't). I also have all my projects on an external hard drive (Western digital 1tb 7200 rpm over firewire 800) which im recording to and streaming from.
Im using some waves plugins but nothing extensive and often 10 tracks of audio but im not able to play through any of my projects due to the constant messages. I've got the I/O buffer normally at either 512 or 1024 but the system still jutters.
Can someone please give me any idea what i need to do to sort this... please don't say get a new laptop cos i really don't have the money, althouuuuuugh one of the new macbook pros would look sweet in my little setup

Thanks everyone
Matt
