Ported / Vented speakers... WHY??

Why do speaker manufacturers kepp producing ported speakers at all? and why do poeple keep buying them? I know many of you will say "extended low end in a small box" but that not true, due to the steeper roll off it's actually worse, i'm not going to list all the supposed reasons justifying them, if anyone can point out a good reason for them, especially larger speakers i'd like to hear it.

I'm just having a moment, i flabby crap ported speakers, and rear ports just drive me nuts! I can't understand for all the will in the world why all speakers arent either sealed or TL's. Please dont say cheap!!!! how much more can it cost to NOT cut a bloody hole in the box.

P.S. My hatred is directed purely towards the studio monitoring market, not hifi, pc speakers or anything else...
