So I've bought my 60KG/m3 rockwool. Wood is no problem. I have just bought a load of 100% cotton material for the backs of the bits I build (stuff called 'Bomull' from a certain Swedish shop which cost me <£15 for 9 meters x 1.5 meters
)Also at the certain Swedish shop, I was intending to buy material for the fronts. I'm making a vocal wall, replacing a couple of cupboard doors, doing corner traps and making panels. In all, I need about 15 meters of the 1.5M wide fabric.
And here is where we have the problem. Searching these forums, it seems to be the general advice is 'if you can breath through it, it's OK'. Well there I stood in the shop sticking every bit of fabric over my face and breathing through it. The security video will fetch good money on a fetish site

Long shot is I can breath through all of them.... but some easier than others. I got a sample of some attractive stuff that was £6 per meter and, whilst breathable, it's a bit of a harder slog than it is through the backing material I got.
I then stuffed the backing material over my mouth and spoke through it. Did the same with the printed stuff. The latter was 'muffled' according to my wife.... So I take it this means the attractive printed designs are out of bounds as they'll reduce the effectiveness of what I'm doing? Really need clarification on this please
I've been quoted £8 per meter plus postage for the Cara stuff which folks here recommend, so that'll be plan B TBH.... as the room is shared with my other half, I was hoping to mix and match plain stuff and designs - she, of course, likes the paterned stuff and will have to look at it too.
So do I
a) Go with the paterned stuff as it'll still work just as well because breathing is breathing so forget about the muffling

b) Buy the Cara which will work out more expensive and not look as pretty
c) Buy another 15m of the cheap as chips backing material I got for £23 all in and then get a few pots of dye from Wilco?
d) Some other solution....
Any thoughts gratefully received
