Fishman Rare Earth h/b - battery life

My Fishman Rare Earth humbucker seems to be eating batteries at the moment. For example, I had to change the battery at the last gig I did about a month ago - new Duracell battery (the single 3v version), lead plugged in for about 4 hours (soundcheck and gig). When I came to use it again yesterday, the battery was dead.

Looking back, I realised that the previous battery had also died after similar use and the one before that I just put down to not using the guitar for a long while. All these batteries have been bought from different places at different times, so it's probably not a 'duff batch' problem.

Is this normal for a RE humbucker or could there be something else causing the pick up to remain on even when the jack's out?
