Well the problem is that once you crank that gain up all mics will increasingly pick up ambient noise, and also of course, noise from the mic amp with dynamics which need a lot of gain for certain parts. I can't say that I've found my RE20 to be immune from this and while it is really good very close, it's not a magic bullet for this problem. Just drink all the beer and then turn the fridge off.
