Advice required for Live synth Rig
      03/07/11 02:11 PM
Like alot of people here I am looking for a good quality synth for my live rig.

Currently, I use a Roland Fantom X8 and a Apple Powerbook G4 to run backing tracks etc....... I need a second synth as I am running out of space on the X8 when mapping parts.

I have spent ages looking at YouTube and reading numerous review on various synths which catch my eye. However, you can't beat recommendations. Sure, I could spend hours in a music store demoing whatever is available at the time but some of the synths I am looking at are older and can only be found 2nd hand.

I do have a budget in mind of £1000 but this can be a little flexible if needs be.

OK, the kind of things I am looking at are.....

Korg Radias
DSI Prophet 08
Roland V-Synth (Mk 1 or Mk2)
Korg Z1 (Not easy to program though)
Roland JP8000
Nord Lead 2 or 3
Access Virus (I know little about this family of keyboards)
Kurzweil K2000 (Only because it always seems to be mentioned - The chances of trying before buying are slim though!!)

I'm sure you get the idea. In summary, the keyboard needs to be relativly easy to program. I don't mind it being deep but the more 'knobs' and controls the better (which is why I am put off the Z1)

I am sure I have missed quite a few gems, which is why I posting.

Cheers.
