Actually, all is not well in 10.6.8 land. Something bad has happened to audio. I suffered from it on my MacBookAir. Essentially you lose sound. I know one pro who installed it on his main rig and had to re-install 10.6 and work back up to 10.7.

MaxFixIt have a good article on the problem and an easy fix that works for some people - including me - so as long as you've been using Time Machine before the update then it's pretty easy.
