Please, don't buy a high-milage merc estate unless you know it's origin. C & E class mercs are prone to steering box issues which can be 2-2.5K to replace. Also catalytic converters are well over a grand, and that's for non-mercedes replacements from Kwik-fit.

Been there, spent that...
