Somehow, I need to play 3 CD quality tracks simultaneously from one unit. These are a stereo backing track and a click track. At present I am using a Macbook Pro (running Logic) with a MOTU 828 and various other hardware for guitars etc. This is easy although if the firewire cable comes loose, the whole show goes down!!! Not good...
I would also like to be even more mobile with minimal and small gear...hopefully, this is possible.
I have previously used mini-discs and split the left and right feed so that I can have a click on one channel that is bussed to my monitors and the track, vocals etc. go to the front of house. This however results in a mono backing track. I have also looked at a few multi-track recorders but these all seem a little bulky and wouldnt really cut down the size of the gear I already carry.
Does anyone know of a multi-track recorder or just some kind of player that I can record or better still, transfer my stereo backing tracks and click track to (so three separate tracks) and then split the outputs? I don't need to record anything once the tracks are on the device and don't need any inputs!
Perhaps there is some way of naming all of the tracks, putting them on an SD Card and then syncing them up on a player. As you may be able to tell, I'm trying to solve a one man band issue. As for guitar and vocals thereafter, I will probably use a standalone MOTU audio interface as these are ultra compact and this is what I am trying to achieve.
If you made it this far, thanks so much for reading and if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks,
Sam
