I believe that Logic has an upper limit on the size of files that can be recorded, which may be an issue in these circumstances. According to my very quick Google search, the limit is (or was) 2GB for AIFF and SDII, 4GB for WAV and much more for CAF files (whatever they are). Not sure if that still applies in the latest version of Logic, but it would be as well to check the manual and choose a file format that permits very large files to be recorded.
