EXS24 -auditioning samples with song running

Am I missing something? With my Akai, I used to get the "right" drum sound by setting up a keygroup, triggering it via MIDI (with the song running), and scroll through various loaded sounds til I got the one I liked. That way I could pick sounds in context with the rest of the track...

How can I do that with EXS24? is it possible to load some sounds into RAM, and then audition them (one at a time) in a triggered zone?

If not, is there another soft sampler which allows this method?

Thanks for any help...
