I've finally finished arranging a song, which for me is an achievement!! Could anyone help me, I can't go any further into mixdown...
So I've bounce my new song to stems to start a mixdown in Live 8(with Mike's book in one hand !). I have a total track count of 53 (96k/24bit), no plugins yet, and all i get is drive overload with barely any sound...
My system:
Intel MB and core i5 750 @ 2.67ghz, 4gb ddr3 ram
XP PRO SP3 32bit
EMU 1820 soundcard
1 TB drive samsung HD103SJ (7200rpm)with "PROD" partition (incl this project) at the beginning of the drive
1 TB WDC (7200rpm) with samples and main xp pro system
2x 200gb maxtor HDs
What I've tried so far:
Play the whole song (stuttering) once hoping that at the next "passage" it would play ok - failed
Opened same project in reaper 4 - failed
Defragmnented "prod" partition - failed
I initially bounced the stems on my laptop (tosh i3 with 5400rpm drive) and could not play the song either. I thought my desktop would be fine but it's barely any better.
I read that 7200rpm drives should cope fine up to 90 tracks, whats wrong with my system?
Thanx for your help
