Hard drive prices have doubled and then tripled since the Thailand floods knocked out all
the factories around Bangkok including Western Digital and Toshiba main hard drive
facility. Some say that things won't be back to normal for 6 months at least and because
of the sudden shortage prices have rocketed. If you're buying a new system I'd recommend
going for an SSD drive - their prices have remained largely static or just buy a single
drive for now and maybe add more drives once the price comes down a bit when you really
need it.
