I've listened to this three times and have changed my mind three times, which, whilst I am not suggesting I have golden ears, would suggest this is a taste issue rather than a mix issue.

Therefore, if this is what your client wants, it may be for the the mastering engineer to make any subtle choices on this rather than you to tinker with your production master any more.
