Thanks Hugh, I didn't realise that. It sounds great but, in the heat of the moment, I would be a lot happier pressing a "play" button or moving a fader rather than sodding about with a mouse. As this is going to be shared with a couple of groups (we're friendly like that) a console is a lot easier (or rather less intimidating) and less likely to get broken than a laptop.

Oh yeah, if I had time to learn a system and the money to pay for it I would love "SpotOn" but, even if I do win the lottery, what also has to be considered is that I won't be operating the sound during the show so...

This is "for fun" and most of the members are middle-aged or older and they go faint if presented with complicated software and computers. A console and a minidisc or CD player are more "user friendly" in this environment.
