Profire 610, question about spdif function

Hello all

I currently own an original Mbox and an RME ADI-2. As some of you know, the mbox's native inputs/outputs don't function when using it in with SPDIF mode (which I use to connect the ADI-2, basically the mbox is a usb dongle). I was wondering if the Profire 610 (or other interfaces) functions the same way, or can I use simultaneously the SPDIF inputs/outputs and well as route other audio in/out of the profire's analog inputs/outputs. I mainly want to do this in order to connect outboard effects like a Kaoss Pad and possibly sample VSTs output directly into an MPC.
