Hi all,

I have just taken the leap from playing in my bedroom to public performances and have invested in the PA gear to do so. However on connecting it up, it's not working properly and I was wondering if anyone could troubleshoot for me. The kit I have is:

Behringer 1202FX Mixer
2 * Mackie Thump TH-12A's
Shure SM58 mic.
Guitar and AVT100 amp

When I plug in the mic to the mixer and the mixer to the speakers, I only hear sound when everything is on full on the speaker and the mixer, and even then it is really quiet. It's also really tinny and distorted. I tried plugging in my guitar to the mixer and having that output to the speakers too and it was the same case with quiet, distorted sound.

I also tried plugging the mic and guitar directly into the speakers via XLR but didn't hear anything. I've tried switching cables etc. and it's the same case so I don't think it's that; does anyone have any idea if this sounds like its the mixer or the mic at fault?
