If you're pointing to a USB/Firewire converter I'd eat a few hats if it would work reliably with a Firewire audio interface.

Firewire is a tried and trusted technology and you can still get FW interfaces that work happily with current computers. I feel it's more dangerous trying to second-guess future trends and increases the likelihood of buying into a dead-end. MLAN anyone?
