That's always the danger of going by TOTP or videos... they're not necessarily using their own gear.

As for the JP-4, when I got mine a few years ago I was playing the presets and the "saxophone" (I use inverted commas deliberately there...) jumped out as being very Vince-ish.

EDIT: the link above to VC's own videos contains one of the JP-4 - he says he used it for "most of the DM gigs in 1981".
