I recently saw Steve Lawson (bass looper and UK EDP guru) play with BJ Cole (Pedal steel
techno and session genius) where Steve synced his EDP to a laptop running Ableton Live for
some really wicked improv. BJ's techno-ician (Ben Bayliss)did a marvelous job providing
background loops and effects. The sync on the EDP recieves MIDI time clock info from Live
so that the start of the bar for each is linked to a common timing. Very groovy.
Sorry to rub it in, by I've got an EDP. 3 minutes of looping time is actually a
*lot* when you can't store the loops. It's more of a performance tool than a loop
scratch-pad. I run it as an external effects unit on a send from Live. And another send
out to my DL4... So I can bounce loops back and forth.
