Mackie C4 controller questions

Apologises if there has been a Post in the past concerning this subject. I couldn't find it if there was.

I have managed to pick up a Mackie C4 (not the latest USB version) midi controller cheap. I am running Cubase 7 and Ableton 8 on the PC. I am aware the controller is not supported by these DAWs - unfortunately!

I am not particularly bothered about it not being able to control the DAWs themselves, but is there a way of creating your own patches/programs to control a VSTi? As you may well know the majority of VSTi parameters are controlled by Midi CC# rather than Sysex or RPN. There is not a 'Learn' feature on the controller, but there is on the parameters of a VSTi.

Has anyone found a way of converting Midi CC# data of a VSTi to RPN or Sysex data on to the Mackie C4 control knobs via the Mackie C4 Commander software so the VSTi can be controlled in realtime?
