I've just got hold of SP2 and haven't noticed any problems so far since installing it. Sonar users should visit the Cakewalk web site, since they need to change a setting to avoid SP2 warning sprinklers going off after detecting its self-modifying code. Others have noticed improvements in the speed at which certain applications load, but somehow I doubt that you'll find any audio benefits (perhaps I'm just being cynical though - I'll let you know if I spot any).

A few glitches with FireWire 800 as well (see the RMS site for instance), but since I'm writing all this up in full for my next PC Notes column I don't want to go into too much detail here

As for Pro Tools this doesn't surprise me - the last time I looked Digidesign still advised disabling Hyperthreading, so I would be cautious about any major update before it's approved by the powers that be.

To be honest though I thought most people would wait for SP2 to fall off the cover-mount CDs of mainstream PC magazines next month - it's a big download! You're all far too keen
