thanks martin and hypagen for the advice, sorry if i didnt reply sooner or seemed ungrateful its just ive got very limited access to the net.

i was hoping to ask you two some advice again if its cool, i just hope its ok for me to post it in this thread.

what i wanted to know is,

martin, i know you done the review of the emu 0404 usb, and its compatible with wnidows xp, i ve heared theres problems hooking it up to vista?

and hypagen, i know you use a focusrite saphire.

i wanted to get the white saphire, (the one you put on your desk, one up from the le version.) how can i go about getting info on what chipset it contains, and once i know what chipset it contains, what stuff do i need to find out if it will be compatible for my computer, and how can i find out?

(because i havnt actually got a computer yet, i thought it would be better to get the equipment to make music first rather than get the wrong computer.)

like: the sapphire being compatible with the built in firewire?

the sapphire being compatible with the pci or laptop adapter?(depending on wether i get a desktop or laptop.)

issues with compatibility with motherboard?

and finnally martin and hypa, do you have any reccomendations on what i should get, laptop or desktop and what make/modell do u reckon would be good for home production and recording vocals with saphire?
