DI into preamp. Ye olde impedance?

Hope someone can help with this one.

My trusty DI (a Klark Teknik DN100) is used to get my synths and drum machines into my preamp. My preamp has a switchable Z, which is either 'Lo' (300 ohms) or 'Hi' (1200 ohms). The output on the DI is 600 ohms.

I'm all for using my ears and experimenting with either setting to see which sounds best in a particular application, but... I can't help wondering... is there a 'correct' way here?
