If you're adding hardware you need to include an extra midi in and out for each unit. You can't go far wrong with MAudio's midisport range

I have allready a midiman (former name of M-audio) 4X4 + chinese great 1 Midi to usb device.

Dag's advice here is spot on - you probably would want to think about a ghost/rmc system. If you get a bridge with separate piezos, Andy says you can rig them up to a GK2/3 switching unit. Find one with a broken pickup or connecting wire...

What is ghost/rmc system? I thought it will be enough to put the GK3 or Axon PU below the bridge somehow - I'm gonna get this mandolin model:

Quote dubbmann:

when you say MIDI violin, do you mean it takes a roland 13-pin cable? ...i'm not sure how it would handle the MIDI pickup in a four string violin.

The violin has 8 Din Pin and I'm goona solder an 8din Pin to the 13 Cabel (somebody who made it send me his scheme) and said Axon 100 MKII functions.
My violin is a similar model, but have different colour and neck:

btw, i love italian prog rock violin players from the 1970s! the guy from PFM was/is so brilliant it's scary

Another prog Italian group which had a violin is: "Quella vecchia locanda" Regarding PFM: do you mean Mauro Pagani or Gregory Bloch (who plays on Jet Leg). I actually prefer Jeanluc ponty or Jerry Goodman, both played for the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

I found this system on the net, but no possible to find here in Italy and don't know anyone who tried it:

Maybe next year in Frankfurt Musicmesse I'll check it out, meanwhile will go for the AX50

Cheers,
J.

p.s Andy, thnak you too, see you sent a reply meanwhile I was writng
