simpleton guitarist here, trying to learn to read music, with a quick question for you:
Initially, while i am just trying to learn and be able to instantly recognise the notes on the leger lines should i be doing this with my instrument, or am i better off separating the tasks, and just reading through music at a desk to practise recognising the notes and chords? Learning the language as it were.
I have a good knowledge of the fretboard, so when it comes to finding where to actually play the notes I don't have much trouble.
Also, am i right to separate out the tasks of learning the note names, and learning the note values? I figured once I can recognise the note names, i'll start playing through stuff with a metronome and focus on the note values.
Any other tips for learning to sight read on guitar?
Many thanks in advance,
