Hey everyone,

Right now I'm looking to buy a synthesizer. However, after doing some research there appears to be a variety of opinions about what is appropriate.

Here's some background on me, I had piano lessons for about 7 years growing up, but got bored and switched to percussion/xylophone which I played through high school and in college. However I have gotten the itch to try out keyboard, more specifically some of the cool synth beats and songs that I've heard (ala Ronald Jenkees).

I'm hoping to create my own sounds and record some songs.

So far, I've been advised that getting a used Yamaha Motif 6 or Korg Triton is my best bet by far. All else equal I'd prefer to spend a little more for a high quality instrument that can last me a long time as opposed to getting a beginner instrument and needing to go out and pick up a new one a year later.

With regards to price, my budget is around 600-700
