What's made me finally decide this.........
A few weeks ago I went to audition to play keys for a big touring theatre group. Touring for the next 3 months and a further 4 months later on in the year. I got offered the job. Unfortunately, after receiving the tour itinery, it was clear I couldn't work it along side my day job and I had to turn it down. I'm still beating myself up over it but it was the right decision.
However, what this has done is give me confidence in my ability. Friends and family always say you're good at what you do but to get the nod from someone in the industry has given me the push I needed.
So, I need some help and assistance with the non-musical side of this. I need to create a website and legally set-up and start my business. Is it worth joining the MU or someone similar? What else do I need to do? I am determined to make this happen, but I want to ensure I do all the correct groundwork first.
Can anyone point me in the direction of good reading material or websites on this subject?
I know this is a very fickle industry but I might stand half a chance if I come across as not just a professional player but also a professional business person.
