The bassist in my band has a 16-track analogue desk, I think it's a Studiomaster like this: http://www.dancetech.com/aa_dt_new/hardware/images/studiomaster_16_4_2_mai n.jpg
From what I can gather from quickly Googling it now, it's worth next to nothing! He also has a reel-to-reel to go with it, although we've had some real problems with that.
So, we did a recording using a mate's Firewire audio device and his laptop which you can hear here:

We're not sure how to proceed with further recordings. I am experienced in Logic and recorded my album at home on my iMac (it won album of the month in SoS!) so I favour digital mixdown and playing on with Logic's suite of effects (which is what we did on the track New World).
The question is, do we buy something to convert the Studiomaster signal to digital - in which case, I've no idea what it is I'm looking for.
The other option is to get something like the Mackie Onyx 1620i, which is a lot more flexible than what I mate used (I can't remember what it was to be honest).
Does anybody have any advice? Budget isn't huge. Definitely sub-£1000...and, yes, I know you get what you pay for, etc.
Thanks!
