Limiting etc on the master bus
      13/03/12 04:53 PM
Hi,

i've been mixing a few tracks for the past while, its my first major mixing project (album of 10 songs). So far, i am in the habit of putting an L2 and maybe an S1 stereo imaging plugin on the master fader. I guess i'm doing it to provide "instant" gratification for both the artist and myself, and also to ensure good levels when burning off test cd's. So far so good, but now i'm beginning to think "hang on this is a waste of time" because I will have to take all this master bus processing off when i render the final mixes to send to a mastering house. I will have to re-check all levels etc as the L2 means a lazy way of working for me!

So i guess my question is - why bother with all this 2-bus processing? I guess it makes sense if you are not going to master the material, but otherwise i cant see a use for it at the mixing stage! Or am i missing something here - quite possibly!!!
