In my previous band the drummer suddenly announced that he'd held a life long wish to own a narrow boat and promptly bought one (this desire to own the inland waterways equivalent to a caravan had never previously cropped up in conversation during the 10 years I'd known him - be why should it?). Anyway, since the band were now spread across quite some distance, it became a very useful floating doss house for our occasional get togethers and, whilst I can't ever seeing myself buying one, I can appreciate their attraction. Chugging along at 4mph is very relaxing.
