I understand the difference, Martin - please excuse the poorly structured question!

Just wanted some confirmation on whether or not a huuuge amount of higher density mineral wool could absorb enough bass to reduce transmission to other parts of the structure/building/adjoining rooms. If only it were so simple, eh!

Ah well, never mind - just a thought. Thanks for putting me straight.
