WHere do I get my ISRC codes from?

Postby Kolakube » Sat Jun 19, 2010 11:54 am

Hi there,

New label about to release first release. I have signed up to PPL and downloaded the software.

I must supply my ME with the ISRC code prior to the session so am working my way filing in the PPL database thinking it will generate my code once finished.

Not so, it actually asks me for my ISRC code 3rd box down on the recording details tab.

I dont get this. The whole reason I am doing this in the first place is to get the code.

Anyone please shed any light.

Hi mate,

Thanks for link but I have read that many times though. I do suffer from dyslexia however it seems to read quite well so I don't think that is the problem.

Can I just confirm...

1 - I emailed them
2 - They sent me log on details
3 - I downloaded the software thingy
4 - I am trying to fill out the software thingy but need the code to complete it.

What am I doing wrong and why is there only me feels doing this is quite complicated?

And where is this member pack they speak of?

Is this a physical thing or virtual?

Call the PPL an tell them you are registered but need the ISRC codes for mastering.

They are very efficient and will email you the same day the relevant code. What you need is the "first registrant code" unique to you made out of 3 letters or combination of letters and numbers, if they haven't already sent it to you.

So for example the first track of your first release will be GBXXX1000001, the second one GBXXX1000001, etc (XXX is the "first registrant code"). It is up to you to manage the allocation of numbers for the last 5 digits (the first two are the year of release).

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have 3 numbers or letters and numbers.

Ah, right, so I just insert my 3 letters and numbers I got sent where you put 'XXX'?

Why doesn't it tell you this anywhere? (Or if it does I missed it.)
