Affordable Audio Interfaces

Postby Sibelius19 » Mon Mar 25, 2013 4:45 pm

Hi guys,
Though I don't have the money at the moment. When I finally do have it, I want the best yet most affordable audio interface with midi capabilities. Just so you know, I have a 2.0 Ghz Duo Core, 32-Bit, 2Gb Ram. My keyboard is a Roland EP-97. Here are some of the options I have compiled so far. Of course my first choice would be Roland, seems like there would be more compatibility. However, I do like what I see from Presonus.

Tell me which ones you think are best. Thanks!

The Focusrite Scarlett is really nice for the money, but you might want to jump up to the 8i6 or the 18i6 so that you get SPDIF IO, which might be important to you in the future. The 18i6 gives you an ADAT input, so if you need to track a whole band, you can rent a mic pre with ADAT out.

If you're concerned about compatibility long term, Roland is rather notorious for just dropping support for their products.

That one looks really good to be honest. I figured the whole stick with Roland because you have a Roland would be a moot point. My mouth is watering at the stuff bundled with Presonus the most, but also with Cubase and Ableton included with Tascam and Scarlett, respectively.
