Microphone stand variations? Need ideas!

Postby Lennart » Wed May 01, 2013 7:06 am

Hi! I`m currently creating a small recording kit for travelling (4 microphones, 4 track interface), and I am researching to find convenient microphone stand solutions.

I am looking for something along these lines:
- telescope microphone stand (easy to expand, and fold together)
- `clamp able mic stands/mic holder
- alternative option of a shockmount. Considering bringing large diaphragm condensers with me, and I`m wondering if there are more convenient microphone holders than the shockmounts.

Appreciate all help, info and feedback.

For stands, how about a good camera tripod? They are designed to be transported so can collapse pretty small, they are very adjustable, stable on all sorts of surfaces, and some can reach up 2m or more.

And you can also find a range of camera supports that can be strapped to trees, ground screws, clamps, and mini tripods.

As for shock mounts, how about the Rycote models? They tend to be more compact than the OEM models and perform better too.
