MacBook vs Rain LiveBook AFX?

Postby maxo_ » Sat Dec 22, 2012 7:22 pm

Hi all,

I'm currently looking to get a new laptop which I can do audio production on. Up til now I've been using Windows and Cubase. I was looking at Macbooks, but I had a look at some alternatives and came across the Rain LiveBook AFX which seems to have really good specs for the price and slightly cheaper than a Macbook given the specs. Problem is I can't find any reviews for it.

Has anyone used a Rain Livebook? These are the specs I've seen:

2.6GHz Intel Core i7 Quad-Core [6MB Cache]
120GB SSD Drive
And also a 750 GB Hard drive
And also a DVD-RW drive
15.6" screen
eSATA, 3xUSB3, 1xUSB2

$2,199 = £1360 GBP

vs. 15" MacBook Pro - similar specs and same price but without the 120GB SSD drive and fewer USB ports.

Also, the Rain Livebook has a numerical keypad on the keyboard which could be useful for shortcuts.

Lenovo laptops are also meant to be good machines.

Has anyone used any of these or have any suggestions?
