Question about ASIO and exporting audio

Postby Ben Asaro » Sat Nov 02, 2013 8:56 pm

Kind of a n00b question re: exporting audio.

I am running Cubase 6, but my audio interface (Saffire 18i20) is currently not connected to my PC. I am making stems of various audio tracks.

My question is: Does the ASIO driver make a difference in the quality of the export? Or is this just to route audio for playback? In other words, is the export strictly a digital-to-digital conversion and using Cubase's ASIO driver will not affect the sound verses using Focusrite's ASIO driver?

Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

Exported audio does not go out to the audio interface drivers - so no, it makes no difference to the quality of the Cubase internal export.

Excellent, I was hoping that was the case. I could not find this spelled out anywhere (not even my massive Cubase guide) and I really don't trust blind Internet searches.

Thanks!!
