Moog Taurus 3 seen boarding a plane

Postby The Elf » Thu Mar 25, 2010 3:49 pm

It’s official – my Moog Taurus 3 has begun its journey across the ocean.

Eek, I say, eek!

I have no idea where I’m going to put her. My toadstool is very tight for room, and the space under my keyboard stand is taken by her grandmother, Taurus 1.

I haven’t been so excited about a new instrument in a long time. Crazy really, insofar as the first thing I’ll check is whether it sounds the same as an instrument I already have – duh!

But I await all those new features, and program memories, with glee. Pinch me - I must be dreaming! :bouncy:

Just got my email from Moog, building now. Not sure on delivery yet. Let us know what you think of the T1 vs T3 sound. I have a friend with some T1s and are planning a Taurus shoot out.

Or alternatively Zuke, you could hold him down and I could lift his Mk1 and Mk3 and we could scarper with both ....

what bothers me is how a 6 inch high 8 Oz Elf is going to play them??

i mean, i can see how he'd play keyboards, running , hopping skipping and jumping around the keyboard , but those pedals take a bit more effort to move them surely ???

Guys! Didn’t they teach you anything about my race at school?

Elves pay no attention to size. By your human dimensions we can be 2 inches tall at one moment and 12 feet tall the next – actually we’re both simultaneously.

My studio runs on a combination of USB, MIDI and elven magyck. At the moment I’m running 32-bit magyck because you can’t yet get 64 bit drivers for my pointy hat. It’s promised for second quarter...

That's quarter millennium

That's the other thing about elves, they don't necessarily run in sync with out temporal norm...

Enjoy those Taurus pedals...

LoL, I'd love to be an elf, turn myself into a fly and watch the OP and zuke drooling over ale and bulls ;-)

Mine arrived yesterday. Outrageous postage prices but as soon as I saw the moog packaging with the big bull on the front it was forgotten. Nobody worries about the fuel consumption of a testarossa, either. Stallions, bulls, ...err? Whatever.

It is MUCH bigger (physically) than I thought. It is a monster. The sounds are so bassy it eats my speakers. You will need an extra set of bass traps to SECURE the house! I really would love to take it to somewhere with a huge PA and play it through that. Never had this wish stingig me so much as with this one.

So my knees are already wounded from kneeling down and twiddling it and playing it by hands. Obviously I just played with it so far (as in: geeky-play). To be honest, the real big bassy sounds will need special arrangement just to make space for them in the mix.

Very special and meaty as moo!

You might want to think the gender thing over again. Did you get a T-shirt as well? Look at the back. Pretty huge balls for a Lady lol.

(might be a language thing as well but in my native tongue it is "der Synthesizer" which is and sounds everso male ;-)

It could be worse. You could leave a Mk 2 ('Rogue-on-a-stick') behind... ;)

Haven't received my T3 yet, but just paid the duty and am set for delivery...

I'm bringing along a Bontempi to replace the T3 we 'borrow' Dave.
You know, because it's the right thing to do.

Can't leave the Elf without summatt to play with.

Guard badgers - to your posts!!

Prepare to feel the wrath of elven defensive magyck!

Darkest demons, summoned from the nine levels of Kraudur’s maze will tear the last vestiges of joy from your very soul!

Flames from the depths of the fiery Mount Adras will blacken your skin, and lick and shrivel your treacherous hearts!

Prepare to feel my rain of well-aimed water balloons!

If you fear none of the above, then be it known that I am prepared to use sarcasm…

The battle lines are drawn. Let me know when you’re coming so I can be sure to be at home.

Sonny.... I call rank.

Dragons eat Elves when they're grumpy.

Badgers or No Badgers

best just quietly add it to my Horde.... and I'll let you come play with it when I've finished annoying the hell out of Dave and Zuke

I do feel that you are missing the point Elfy....

1. Badgers, demons and majik are all very well and good, but a cricket bat is a cricket bat!
2. "last vestiges of joy from my soul"? What joy? Why d'ya think we are nicking your new Taurus?
3. You are closer with the water balloons frankly.. ;)
4. If you even attempt sarcasm, I will be forced to use irony!

Any more of this nonsense and we'll have your Oberheims as well!

I’m currently working on a prog/dance hybrid. It’s in 9/8, but it moves over a 4/4 TR-909 pattern. Let me know what you think of the lyric...

====
VERSE:
In time we come to see
Knowing season’s end - the mirror passing
When crossing into higher lands; colours of the heart
Encompass light and enchant; in time; moving all around
Light; Moving; Passing; () With love () Love; passing
Ascending
Enchanting my soul

CHORUS:
Gonna diggit wicha all night long
Mah dance floor baby
Yeah
====

I'm here all week...

Here in Bicester the XLF* are ready to stand four square with anyone who plans on liberating innocent electronics from those who threaten to become the best synthesiser player in the world simply by buying up every decent synthesiser in existence!

(I don't have a cricket bat though - will a Steinberg do?)

Not here yet, but I'm expecting the first delivery attempt any time now. Then I need to arrange to go pick it up.

You'll know I've got it when the BBC starts reporting seismic activity centred on South Yorkshire! :D

Guess the tune:

Ticka-tocka-ticka-tocka-ticka-tocka-ticka-tocka...
Boom boom boom ba-boooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmm...
(then the Mellotron chords)

A one word title of six letters. Extra prize for anyone who can give me the alternative title! :D
